"If Richard Lloyd and Steven Drozd were to kiss it would sound like this"
- Alf Spiderwoman Svensson.
Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Tu Howl is a love child born from songwriters Andreas Lassus & Martin Hasselgren's mutual desire to create the most passionate and powerful artificial fitness rock for mother earth.
Completed when needed by seasoned bassist Sive Bannon, Soviet-trained power guitarist JH Haneman and keyboard wizard PF Lovechild/Dreamhouse they've been writing, rehearsing and recording what is to be their debut album: Tu Howl - So Hum.
Read about the three songs "Survivor", "Everlaster" & "The Goddess":
"Survivor" opens with a perfectly crafted chord sequence & golden sword cymbal flourishes, leading into what may be the finest rock song since Roky Ericksons "I think of demons". Behind a curtain of flaming phased out guitars the acrylic drums of E.A. Lassus roll & rock in a circular and muscular pattern while the angelic voice of Hasselgren tell the highly seductive story of a Gulf-war veteran and her occult/romantic encounters.
"Drawing out a pentagram
Across my hometown
Looks immaculate
Wet lines on the ground"
The light psychedelia of power ballad "Everlaster" might bring many things to mind- the slide from Natalie Imbruglia's 90's hit "Torn", the leather vest & power gloves of Matt Sorum in the video for "November Rain", Prince's "Purple Rain", Television's "Marqee moon", a newly sprung rose, the foggy scenery from the opening scenes of "Twin Peaks", Per Gessle & Marie Fredriksson celebrating a new gold record, kaleidoscopic nostalgia & an ever present glowing warmth - being some of the suggestions.
"You should've been a butcher
and cut me up in half
when you had the chance"
"The Goddess" takes us on a fast ride down the dusky highways of Matriarchy, modern Goddess-worship & easy night time action. Crazy Horse's Frank Sampedro's futuristic angel organ of "Like a hurricane" marries a drum beat straight out of the Steven Adler book of power n' groove as the triple Television-guitars twinkle & burn away into the endless Swedish night.
"Bow down to the Goddess in you
All lights on the fuck up
Bow down to the Goddess in you
All lights have gone out now"
